Hyatt Regency Long Beach

If you're looking for a great hotel in Long Beach, the Hyatt Regency Long Beach is an excellent choice. Getting there is easy - just take the I-710S freeway to the Downtown Long Beach exit, and you'll be less than 2 miles from the hotel. Situated on the corner of S. Pine and E. Shoreline, the hotel is just a stone's throw from the ocean. If you visit on a weekend, you'll be treated to a bevy of food trucks lining the street, almost all the way to the hotel doorstep.
As you make your way up a few steps and through the trees, you'll find the entrance to the hotel. It's situated in such a way that it feels like you've discovered a secret opening. Once inside, the hotel's interior is open and airy, with floor-to-ceiling windows that give the impression of being outside. The staff is kind and accommodating, and if you're willing to pay a little extra, you can stay in an upper-level suite, which is definitely worth the splurge.
If you're lucky enough to get a room above the 5th floor at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach, you'll be treated to a gorgeous view of Rainbow Harbor. This harbor is home to ships, including the famous Queen Mary, as well as man-made islands with giant trees and festive aerial lights that light up at night. Along the waterline, you'll find Shoreline Village, a winding boardwalk with shops and restaurants. The scenery is simply stunning, with lush greenery and colorful flowers throughout.
The Hyatt Regency is also surrounded by what some refer to as a "swan lake lazy river", although the official name is the Rainbow Lagoon. This peaceful body of water is connected to the hotel, and both patrons and travelers can rent sleek swan boats to paddle around the water fountains alongside fellow floaters. It's a unique activity to partake in, or just to watch as beautiful swans make waves. From my window ledge, I enjoyed watching couples and families navigate the river with smiles on their faces.

After watching the sunset from the hotel "living room," I made the short 3-minute walk to Shoreline Village to grab a bite at an Irish place called Shenanigans. The crowd was lively and the food was fantastic!
The next day, I decided to explore the other side of the island by taking an adjacent path that connected the walkway to a shopping mall, museum, and live music venue. If you know me, you'll understand that being within walking distance of all these places is a dream come true. It was wonderful to be able to explore the area at my own pace and take in all the sights and sounds.
Following the path to the northwest side of the Village to Shoreline Aquatic Park, a city park nestled on Queensway Bay, I made my way up to the famous lighthouse at the top of the hill. It was almost like a "yellow brick road" stroll, with tales of the harbor and Long Beach history posted around the base of the lighthouse. Couples, families, and pets were picnicking all around, enjoying the beautiful scenery.
After taking in the final view of the bay and bidding a sad farewell to the beautiful hotel, I wrapped up my trip knowing that I would definitely come back to the Hyatt Long Beach. This hotel is perfect for every type of traveler, whether you're single, coupled up, or with your family. While I may lean more towards bringing a companion, there were enough peaceful and solo travel activities to satisfy me, too. I know I'll be leaping back again soon!
